funding period 2014-2022

LEADER Funding Period 2014–2022

Originally planned for the period from 2014 to 2020, the programme was extended by two years until 2022 due to the delayed start and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As foreseen by the funding programme, an additional three years were available after the end of the programming period for the completion of projects and the settlement of expenditures (i.e. until the end of 2025).

What were the foundations?

The LEADER Programme Pustertal 2014–2022 was based on the Local Development Plan, which was developed jointly with local stakeholders. The plan identified the specific needs of the Pustertal region and defined objectives such as improving quality of life, preserving cultural heritage, and strengthening the local economy.

How were the objectives achieved?

To achieve the objectives set out in the Local Development Plan, the LAG Pustertal offered ten sub-measures. Each sub-measure defined the types of eligible projects and established specific requirements and priorities derived from the overall objectives of the programme. Interested stakeholders were able to submit project proposals corresponding to these sub-measures. A dedicated budget was allocated to each sub-measure and awarded through several public calls, ensuring a transparent and fair allocation of funds.

Who develops and implements the projects?

In line with the bottom-up principle of the LEADER funding programme, local stakeholders independently develop projects, are directly involved in the decision-making process, and subsequently implement the projects themselves. Over the past eight years, 51 project ideas have been implemented by 29 project promoters in the Pustertal region.

What was the funding volume?

During the LEADER funding period 2014–2022, a total of € 4,207,928.12 in funding contributions was made available in the Pustertal region (status as of 31 December 2024).
